At the North Fork Sorting Facility, PGE separates wild from hatchery fish. Hatchery fish, which can be identified by the absence of an adipose fin, are returned to the hatchery or released into the lower river for sport fishing. Wild native fish are released into the protected waters above North Fork Dam.
