Time is of the essence. To successfully tackle one of the world’s most difficult challenges, we’re assembling a powerful team. When can you start?
You’ve chosen an exciting time to pursue a career at Portland General Electric. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we have a decade to make significant progress to curb greenhouse gas emissions in our atmosphere.
With climate change on the front burner, we’re on a mission to make sure that front burner is powered by clean, renewable energy. Ready to join us? Find your career at PGE.
We are a diverse group of talented individuals from different backgrounds and experiences, each with unique styles, approaches and ways of looking at things. We’re looking for innovative, visionary leaders who are fully engaged and driven. People who stir imagination, encourage innovations and inspire. Someone who can turn wishful thinking into concrete solutions. Is this you?
PGE is leading an energy transformation that will harness the power of clean and renewable resources for years to come. We are decarbonizing Oregon, building advanced solar, wind and battery-storage power plants and setting ambitious goals, like reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the power we serve our customers 80% by 2030.
As Oregon’s largest electric utility, we’re proud to be on the forefront of decarbonizing the state and beyond. But we also live here and raise our families here. This community matters to us and has been a home we’ve taken care of for over a hundred years.
At Portland General, a diverse workforce is important to us. It is our lifeblood. And, while we don’t do what we do for the awards or recognition, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t like the attention.
The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index tracks the financial performance of public companies committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through policy development, representation and transparency.
For the eighth year in a row, we achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.
Many people who come to work at PGE tend to stay at PGE. Maybe it’s all the different career paths and possibilities. Who knows? But one thing’s for certain, it’ll never be boring. Just take a look.
“From policy reviews to health matters, my team is creating a safe work life for employees, so our communities stay powered.” - Carolyn Walker, Managing Attorney
“We’re regularly trimming trees and vegetation around our lines and equipment to insure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity.”
- Izzy Weaver, Associate Forester
“I like being resourceful and creative. We’re always seeking out new manufactures and unique channels to obtain the equipment our crews need to stay safe and do their jobs.” - Risa Swanson, Supply Chain Category Manager
Are you someone who thrives on hard work, is skilled with a hot stick, and is passionate about your profession and helping the community? If so, we need to talk. We’re on a quest for exceptional line workers to join our crews.
And if you love the outdoors, you’ll love this work. You’ll also love Oregon, which is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.
Starting down a career path can be a challenge. It’s sort of a catch-22…you need experience to get a job and you need a job to get experience. No problem. With an internship or apprenticeship at PGE, you’ll get both.
College isn’t for everyone. Becoming a line worker apprentice is a great career path with excellent income potential. And you can get started right away earning and learning. There’s no need to earn a college degree.
PGE’s internship programs are an excellent way for you to gain valuable experience while we tap into your new ideas and perspectives. And with PGE’s Project Zero, we’re helping more and more youth from front line communities find ways into the green jobs of tomorrow.
