Responsibilities
Essential job responsibilities:
Work safely without exception
Construct and maintain dead or energized overhead and underground transmission and distribution circuits
Install and remove all types of transformers, arresters, fuses, cutouts, switches and street-lighting equipment
Drive articulated boom trucks, ladder trucks, hole-digging and pole-setting equipment, and other equipment associated with distribution and transmission work
Maximize the use of personnel and equipment to complete the job in a timely and orderly fashion while maintaining quality and safety
Climb poles to perform work
Provide coverage throughout PGE’s service area
Requirements
You must have:
Journeyman Lineman card
Proficiency in hot sticking (required by end of the probationary period)
Valid CDL driver’s license
Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA requirements
Passed a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Ability to climb and safely perform work from a pole
Proficiency in performing pole-top rescues
Documentation showing completion of an accredited apprenticeship program
IBEW Local 125 union membership

What to expect
Submit your resume, including your apprenticeship details, carding-out date and current local membership information.
Speak with a recruiter to discuss your credentials, experience, and interest in PGE.
Talk with the manager of your desired Yard to learn about the work, overtime expectations, and discuss your specific experience.
Verification of that you are a Lineman in good standing and review of any prior onsite work with HR.
Conducted at our Lineman training site in Sherwood, consists of the following:
Yard assessment: Perform tasks including a cutout change, pole-top rescue, and steel arm pin/glass replacement.
Transformer test: Review "Transformers 101" beforehand; all necessary tools will be provided.
Behavioral interview: Answer scenario-based questions to assess your decision-making.
After calibrating scores (typically within 1 day), your recruiter will contact you with the results. Start dates are usually 1½–2 months from the acceptance date if an offer is extended and accepted.
