PGE restores service to 96% of customers impacted by winter weather; continues repair work for remaining outages

Jan. 18, 2024

PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 18, 2024) — Restoration efforts continue today as strong winds and freezing rain add to the existing wintry mix. Nearly 1,700 personnel, including crews and support staff, and mutual assistance crews from across the state and California, Idaho and Washington, are working to repair downed lines and transmission equipment and restore power to the remaining 5,800 customers without service.

PGE has been working to give these customers up-to-date information by phone, email and text messages. PGE is also communicating updates to customers when challenging conditions in the field, such as downed trees and icy roads, delay crews’ ability to assess damage and provide an estimated restoration time, or when restoration times are pushed beyond the original estimate due to the extent of damage.

The latest weather front caused minor damage to PGE’s system last night. Strong winds and areas of freezing rain in the forecast for today may cause new outages and extend restoration. Customers should report any new outage via the PGE mobile app or online at portlandgeneral.com/outages . The latest information on outages, restoration efforts and community resources can be found at portlandgeneral.com/winter-storm-info .

Since the storm began January 13, PGE has restored power to approximately 160,000 customers as of this morning.
