Gallery: Wildfire Safety

In this gallery, you’ll find interviews with subject matter experts from our Wildfire Mitigation and Resilience team covering a wide range of wildfire-related topics and b-roll of PGE specialists conducting transmission line checks.

PGE plans and prepares year-round for inclement and extreme weather conditions of all kinds, including wildfire risks, to make our system more resilient. Our wildfire safety plan is rooted in protecting people, property and natural environments. Regardless of the season or time of year, everyone has a part to play when it comes to readiness.

PGE’s Wildfire Mitigation Program Overview

In this interview, Chris Smith, PGE wildfire technical program manager, discusses the company’s wildfire mitigation program. Part of that program is a series of grid hardening projects, which are designed to make the electrical grid stronger and more resilient to weather and other factors (video courtesy PGE).

Leland-Carus Resiliency Project Overview

In this interview, Ian Wilson, PGE design project manager, provides an overview of the Leland Carus Resiliency Project, one of many grid hardening projects designed to make the electrical grid stronger and more resilient to weather and other factors. As part of this project, PGE will replace more than 760 wood poles with fire resistant metal poles and rewire more the 45 miles of power lines with stronger, more resilient power lines by the end of 2026 (video courtesy PGE).
