When you enroll in Green Future Choice and Green Future Block, you purchase renewable energy certificates (RECs). A REC is created when a megawatt-hour of renewable energy is produced and delivered to the grid. RECs increase demand for, and drive development of, more renewable energy sources. All RECs purchased on behalf of Green Future Choice and Green Future Block customers are verified and certified by Green-e® Energy national standards, the nation’s leading independent consumer protection program for the retail sale of renewable energy.
Green-e® Energy certification guarantee
When you see the Green-e® Energy logo associated with an energy product, it means 100% of the supply for the product comes from renewable resources and the sources of energy supplying the product are independently verified by Green-e® Energy, operated by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions. It also means:
Renewable certificates are not sold more than once or claimed by more than one party.
The participant company offering the product agrees to abide by the Green-e® Energy Code of Conduct and Customer Disclosure Requirements governing its ethical treatment of customers.
Green Future Choice
Be part of the clean energy future. Support 100% renewable energy for about $5 more a month on average ($9 if you’re a small business)* and help fund new renewable projects in Oregon through the Green Future Renewable Development Fund.
Green Future Block
Support renewable energy in “blocks”. Support renewable energy in blocks that cost $1.88 each. Your participation also supports local renewable energy projects through the Green Future Renewable Development Fund.

*Based on the 2025 average residential customer electricity use of 784 kWh per month and 1,315 kWh per month for small businesses. Monthly cost will vary based on your actual electricity use. When you enroll, Green Future Choice matches 73% of your electricity use with renewable energy certificates and the other 27% comes from Oregon’s Renewable Energy Requirement.
