We’re updating our substations with new, smart grid communication technology and equipment. These enhancements will automate the substations to improve service reliability and resiliency in individual neighborhoods and throughout the system.
We anticipate working Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional weekend work.
If we are working on a substation in your neighborhood, here’s what you can anticipate:
When we work on a particular substation, the work will occur intermittently over a roughly three-month period.
You’ll see occasional truck traffic from PGE crews and contractors, who will survey, install and test the new equipment.
In certain situations, we might need to trim some trees near our substation before we can begin this work.
For the safety of drivers and pedestrians, we may temporarily use lane closures, detours or street parking to accommodate large equipment.
You’ll still be able to access your private driveway and local street while we’re working on this project.
We may dig inside the substation fence or just outside the substation fence — within PGE property or the public right of way — so we can install new communication and/or underground equipment.

Thank you for your support as we strengthen the energy grid.
