 Hydropower

You have the power to make a difference by selecting a renewable power option that helps reduce air pollution and protects our natural resources.

PGE’s renewable power program now ranks first in the nation!* We thank our renewable customers for their support.

Green SourceSM is based on matching 100 percent of your actual energy use with renewable power; with Clean WindSM you purchase small units of renewable energy for a set fee.

With the Green Source and Clean Wind options, you are billed at your current Basic Service or Time of Use rate and you pay an additional charge for the renewable option you choose. No matter which option you select, you will continue to receive the same reliable PGE electricity service. The table below explains the features and benefits of each option.

Choose an option Renewable power sources used How this option works Renewable costs
Green Source 100 percent renewable power from new wind and new biomass sources.* 100 percent of your monthly usage is offset with renewable resources. Your regular PGE energy rate plus an additional $0.008 per kWh.

About $7 more for a typical PGE residential customer.**
Clean Wind 100 percent renewable power from new wind.* Available in 200 kWh units (each unit represents about 20 percent of your monthly usage**). An additional $3.50 per 200 kWh unit — you can purchase as many units as you wish.
Habitat Support (not applicable) First, you must select Green Source or Clean Wind.

A monthly fee goes directly to the Nature Conservancy to support stream habitat for salmon and other fish.
$2.50 per month added to one of the plans you select above.
*“New” refers to facilities that became operational after July 1999.
**Based on a PGE customer using 910 kWh per month. Your cost may vary.

Green Source
Estimate the costs to add renewable power to your account Nature Green Source allows you to purchase 100 percent of your electricity from renewable sources and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. With this plan, approximately 85 percent of the electricity you’re purchasing comes from new wind sources and 15 percent new biomass (wood waste). For details, visit GreenPowerOregon.

Clean Wind
Photo of wind turbine Estimate the costs to add renewable power to your account PGE’s Clean Wind program allows you to support development of new wind power generation in the Pacific Northwest. With this option, you purchase small units of wind power at a fixed price. Each unit represents about 20 percent of a typical household’s usage. The funds from your Clean Wind choice will support construction of new renewable resources in the Pacific Northwest, such as the solar panels on the Oregon State Capitol, the first capitol building in the nation to be illuminated by solar power.

Clean Wind is sold in units of 200 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity priced at $3.50 each, which is billed in addition to your normal monthly charges. You may purchase as many units as you like. For details, visit GreenPowerOregon.

Habitat Support (supplement to one of the two main options)
