Renewable resources, especially wind power, are playing an increasingly large role in PGE's effort to deliver a reliable, sustainable energy future for Oregon.
Biglow Canyon Wind Farm
Phase 1 of our Biglow Canyon Wind Farm in Sherman County is now online. This initial phase includes 76 turbines able to produce enough energy to power about 34,000 homes. When all three phases are complete, Biglow will be able to serve some 100,000 homes, making it among the region's largest wind power projects.
Biogas
On the Cal-Gon dairy farm in Salem, PGE operates a facility that converts more than 20 tons of cow manure into energy each day. Through pilot projects like this, PGE continues to explore the development of clean, competitive energy technologies for the future.
Oregon's Renewable Energy Standard
PGE championed and helped draft Oregon's 2007 renewable energy standard law, which mandates that large utilities acquire 25 percent of their power from renewable energy sources by 2025. See how our new Integrated Resource Plan supports that goal.
